Epic Chophouse in Mooresville is a “Hidden Gem!”

Yes, I confess, I am a foodie!  When it comes to celebrating, I get euphoric as I know dining out is at the top of the list for all occasions and especially birthdays!  Some of the best dining destinations are steakhouses so when I started searching for a restaurant centrally located for my daughter in Winston and our family in Charlotte, Epic Steakhouse won out to celebrate her birthday.

As a Lifestyle Editor, I am usually disappointed more than elated when I visit new restaurants.  Not so with Epic Chophouse!  This restaurant is more than a slab of beef loin cooked in a high-temperature broiler.  Epic Chophouse signifies top-quality meat and seafood prepared exquisitely, a wine list that shows depth and commitment and a staff that exemplifies perfection.

Located in the historic downtown district of Mooresville, it is the perfect location for Charlotte and Lake Norman foodies to visit and you will not be disappointed.  In fact, I have added this hidden gem to my list of “favorites” and will be a frequent diner for sure!

As a bonus, Epic Chophouse is participating in restaurant week January 16-25, 2015.  Let me share my favorites!  For appetizers the Chophouse Cheese Toast is out of this world delicious and the Shanghai Shrimp (a special that evening) was equally amazing.  My Petite Filet Mignon was perfecto!  The entire family raved about the food and Epic Chophouse received a Rating of Triple A’s all around.  The Food was Rated A+, The Service was Rated A+ and the Atmosphere was Rated A+!

Jim Morasso, one of the owners stopped by each table to meet and mingle with his guests for the evening.  This is a true mark of success.  In fact, the entire Management team and staff were amazing.  Many restaurants could take a chapter from Epic’s Playbook as they did a great job in all areas of fine dining. There is also a very elegant upstairs area which is perfect for events of all types including banquets, celebrations and private parties.

Epic Chophouse is located at 104 South Main Street, Mooresville, NC 28115 and you can call 704-230-1720 to book your reservation.  I could be sitting right next to you as I have already booked my reservation for next week!

The Engagement Party

It truly takes a village to connect all of the puzzle pieces for the activities leading up to “The Big Day!”  Mothers, let me warn you in advance, there will be stress, moments of anxiety and melt downs.  This is all very normal as the Bride-to-be wants everything perfect on her big day.  Our job is to calm her down and direct her focus on what is truly most important, The Vows and the friends and family gathered to share the joy of this special day.

I recently survived “The Engagement Party!”  The wedding vendor community is amazing!  As experts in their field, their guidance is priceless.  I am going to be honest and say I had no intention of utilizing a wedding planner as I thought we were detailed and organized,  WRONG!  A million times WRONG!  Angela Recinella from Planned Perfection was amazing!  I truly could not have survived without her!   I am just thrilled the engagement party was a trial run for the wedding.  I learned so much  and truly cannot say enough about the vendors that make everything come together so beautifully.

Our Venue, Red Rocks Cafe, Southpark was over the top perfect!  With guests raving about the food, staff and overall experience, I knew we had hit a home run!  John Love was my savior and did everything possible to make the event spectacular!  Memories were created at this event that will last a lifetime!  The ShutterBooth, Cake by Cheesecake, Etc, Photography by Tatyana M Photography who has a genius photographer who I just fell in love with, Musical Duo Ashton Geiger and Josh Shu who made the patio a “hot spot” and our live artist, Laurie Bostian all made the event something out of a fairytale book.

This was the first official event with the parents, wedding party and best friends coming together to celebrate the Love and future of our Princess Bride-to-Be and her Prince Charming and we survived!

Follow my journey in  M.O.B. Matters articles in Carolina Bride and read the complete story of the engagement party along with candid pictures in the July edition as it hits the stands this week.

Mother of the Bride Beginnings

Mother of the Bride Beginnings

This week was full of “Wedding Planning” as we did our first cake tasting with Gail @ Cheesecake Etc. We entered into a magical “Sweet Treat” shop.  Pound Cake, Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Cake and Lemon Cake with the most amazing icing flavors to choose from.  Since we do not need a 12 layer cake, we eliminated a few flavors and Alexis wanted me to pick one of the layers (OMG – she values her Mommy’s opinion) – and I really could have a PHD in sweets as I love them a little too much!  Gail made it an “tasting event”  and we soaked up every bit of  fun and laughter a mother/daughter could experience.  As I reflected on the day, I realized these are treasured moments that will only happen once in a lifetime as I only have one daughter.  I will share more on the cake flavors and icing choices once we make our final selections.

To make the event even more amazing, we had the honor of having Lucy Parker Randall of Smitten and Hooked to capture our “fun” with her camera.  Lucy knows how to entertain with her camera and has the most artistic flair I have ever experienced.  She is truly a photography genius!

And the most exciting news ever……I will be writing about our journey along the way for Carolina Bride.  This is the biggest honor ever!  As the Mother of a Bride-To-Be, I know the hurdles, fun, stress, love and laughter we all go through during the planning process and will share it all.  This really is a dream come true and I want all of the Mothers-of-a-bride out there to know, I totally get what you are going through right now.  At the end of the day, we all want the same thing, our daughter to feel like a Princess on her Wedding Day.

The CowFish Sushi Burger Bar is Out of this World Good!

I love to share when I find something that is amazing!

The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time! The atmosphere is fun and inviting and the food is out of this world good!  It is a great place to “people watch” as the restaurant if full of movers and shakers of all ages and the customer service is outstanding.

My recommendation is the bento box which allows you to sample the highlights of the menu.  It includes a little burger, sweet potato fries (yummy), sushi, a spicy cucumber salad and some edamame.  Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal – which means you can’t go wrong with whatever you order.

The Cowfish truly will be one place I have on my list of my favorites!  It is located near Southpark Mall at 4310 Sharon Road.  I know you will love this place just as much as I did!  Let me know what your favorite dish was!

I became a Cowfish Junkie – Now you can to!
